Why would they do that? Obviously to facilitate the sale of their new homes at rediculously inflated prices, they will have to buy these old homes for similarly inflated prices.

What are they going to do with them? Sell them or rent them? Who's going to buy them? Can you imagine the conversation - "Oh, this is a lovely house we're selling. We didn't build it, we bought it off the last person we sold a newbuild to because they couldn't sell it for the price they wanted, so we're trying to flip it for them."
Re: Should the minimum wage be scrapped?

Of course the minimum wage should be scrapped. The wailing Lefties say that it is an inhuman argument and point out the cost of living... but no matter how hard it may be to live on NMW it is infinitely harder than having no job at all, and all the NMW does is destroy job creation and cause long term unemployment.

If the NMW is such a good idea, why not make it £1000ph? Do you think we'd all be better off, or in fact would we all be unemployed now because our productivity isn't worth £1000ph? If that is too high, then what about £999ph? Or £99ph? Or £9ph? At all levels it causes unemployment.

If you are too stupid to understand that artificially high price-fixing of the labour market reduces the demand for labour then you don't deserve to be paid the minimum wage.

And for people who say "Have you worked for minimum wage?" - Yes I have, I've worked on less. And that job is no longer there now because the minimum wage has made it unviable. Working gives you the chance to improve your skills and your productivity, enabling you to climb the wage ladder.

People need to remember that jobs do not grow on trees - they are created by employers, so if you screw around and increase their costs, of course they are going to hire less.

Re: Extreme Couponing – yes, it’s a real thing

My girlfriend is genuinely hooked on the tv show. Then since so many of our core values are alike — and are supportive of higher ideals -- that in the long run, only companies employing these higher values will likely prosper.

I've been following ethical investing for some forty years.

In 2003, I founded a site to educate investors about ethical/socially responsible investing. It's now one of the foremost global sites on this topic.

It covers the latest related global news, research, books, links, articles, etc., and according to Google rankings is one of the world's most popular on this subject. It's at http://investingforthesoul.com...

Best wishes, Ron
Re: Guest Post: 5 ways to save on your petrol consumption

Hi there - I was interested in writing a guest post for you, but I can't seem to find your contact information on the site! This puts people that don't have savings or "the bank of Mum and Dad" at a disadvantage and what we end up with is a workplace full of the same kind of people.

I agree with Andrew: the majority of companies will take any opportunity they can to boost their bottom line. If the minimum wage is scrapped then incomes will take a sharp dive, people will tighten their purse strings and the economy will grind to a halt once again.

Re: Could Monopoly money come to the rescue of our local communites?

This is so interesting- can't believe I hadn't heard about it before!

Re: Should the minimum wage be scrapped?

If it were scrapped, how long before most jobs were classed as "low productivity"? Companies don't exist to look after people but to make profit for those at the top. Big corporations exploit people wherever they can and this would be no different.

Anyone who thinks the minimum wage is too much clearly hasn't tried living on it. It's fine for academics to suggest it doesn't work in basic economic terms but perhaps the entire problem with society is that profit takes precedence over the humanity.

Re: Extreme money saving: 10 top tips

Thanks for the tips! As soon as the price of oil goes up they cant increase the pump price fast enough but when it drops they take ages the pass on the savings (if at all). But from their point of view why would they? Someone used my credit card online last year and the card issuer just asked which transactions were fraudulent on refunded them no questions asked. I've heard it can me a major hassle to reclaim any money from a debt card though.
